New Standardized Exams

America's College Entrance Examination Board has made big changes regarding educational standards across the US. In June of 2002 the Trustees of the College Board voted unanimously to develop a new SAT I, adding a writing test, toughening the mathematics section as well as other changes. The new test, given for the first time in March 2005, requires each student to produce a handwritten essay as part of the new writing exam. It has also replaced the verbal analogies section with additional reading comprehension questions. Changes to the test were introduced in the Fall of 2004 for the PSAT–NMSQT® but will not include a student–written essay.

The main objective is to focus on college success skills such as writing, critical reading, and mathematics but also to strengthen alignment of the SAT to curriculum and instructional practices in high schools and colleges. Although the test has undergone a complete transformation, the major and most influential change is the introduction of the student–written essay. The idea behind this critical decision is based on reinforcing the importance of writing skills throughout a child's education and allowing universities to more accurately assess student potential. Mathematic sections will add content from algebra II and eliminate quantitative comparisons. Reasoning behind these changes are due to most four year colleges requiring three years of math for admission.

Scoring the English Essay:

Essays are scored by trained high school teachers and college professors who teach English, writing, or language arts courses. Each test is scored independently by two readers on a 1–6 scale using a rubric system similar to the one used for the SAT II Writing Subject Test. Essays will be scanned and distributed to readers via the web.

One on One Instruction:

Reducing the student to teacher ratio improves communication while allowing the teacher to focus his or her teaching skills on that particular student. This kind of personalized attention is virtually unattainable in group teaching environments. We offer specializes, one to one student to teacher ratios, and as a result, our students continue to succeed in their academic goals.

Please note: Our approach is very controlled and very strict. As an experienced group of professionals, we strive for the success of our students and, as a result, our students excel. We are not a referral service so you are sure to meet, talk, and plan your academic program with a real teacher. We use proven techniques and only the highest quality study materials so students achieve steady academic progress in their particular area of study.
